Marianne Takamiya

Marianne is an astronomer who studies using the Gemini telescope, a powerful piece of scientific equipment perched on Hawaii's Mauna Kea. Mauna Kea sits 14,000 feet above sea level, so it's always cold there. But the temperature doesn't bother Marianne-because the view is so incredible! Marianne grew up in Chile, where she first fell in love with the stars. Today she looks at other galaxies, trying to understand how they came to be, what stars they have, and what those stars are made of.
